Chip Chop is currently in a foster home. Please apply to set up a meet-and-greet with Chip Chop here. He is good with kids and is house-trained.

Chip Chop is a happy-go-lucky dog with an easy-going personality. He likes meeting new human friends and would be an excellent companion for a first-time dog owner. He is a calm fella who loves walks (or runs if you’re inclined) and playtime, is housetrained, and has a beautiful, soft, champagne-colored coat. Chip Chop is incredibly smart and enjoys learning and engaging. He would be an amazing dog for most homes. He’s being fostered by a local family who is available to answer any questions.

Here’s a report from his foster:

Chip Chop (also lovingly known as Potato Chip, Chocolate Chip, Chipmunk, and Chippers) fit in from day one, taking a spin around the house and settling into a spot in the family room. The second day was spent on a long car ride to one of the kids’ sporting events. He’s super chill in the car, either watching the road or stretched out snoozing. He was introduced to scores of teammates and their families and nothing fazed him. A toddler waddled right up, eye-to-eye with Chip Chop, and they had a nice chat. It is an understatement to say that he gets along with everyone he meets.

Chip Chop does well on leash—no pulling. We’re a walking family but Chip Chop could easily be someone’s running companion and makes a fantastic sidekick on urban and suburban adventures. On walks to Burlingame Avenue, he’s friendly with shop owners and people going by. He’s an approachable dude. He makes a pleasant office companion, too. He stretches out when I have a longer meeting, and is not distracted by bustling movement or noise. My officemates love seeing him! Chip Chop enjoys hikes and going to the beach, too.

He doesn’t chew or disturb anything in the house. He enjoys puzzles and playing fetch. He’s experiencing a variety of toys for the first time. Chip Chop has indoor/outdoor access with a fenced in yard, and is housetrained. When he’s been left at home for a few hours, he has free roam of the house and yard access and is a perfect pup.

Chip Chop does a great job keeping our kids’ sunscreen behavior in check. Due to a manageable medical condition, the top of his pink nose will always need to be protected from the sun. You do this by applying doggie sunscreen. Our kids are diligent about applying Chip Chop’s sunscreen, which in turn has them slowing down long enough to (finally) make the habit of applying their own, too. We’ve found that walking Chip Chop before 10 a.m. and after 7 p.m. fits well with our family and is perfect for reducing his sun exposure during the strongest part of the day. When we’re outside on the weekends we make sure he has sunscreen applied and we have shade woven in. To ensure his health, Chip Chop takes a small daily tablet (without any issue).

Chip Chop is a perfect gentleman at night. He sleeps with whomever he wants and is found in one of the kids’ beds or on a doggie bed nearby. Bedtime is somewhere between 9-10 p.m. We get up between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m. and he’s always glad to see us. We head out to the yard for potty time before breakfast.

We hope for Chip Chop to find an incredible forever home that appreciates his winning combination of smarts and calmness. He is so very appreciative of having a home where he can have fun and feel loved. The saying, “wears his heart on his sleeve” applies to Chip, except for him, he wears his heart on his forehead…the white patch above his eyes is in the shape of a heart (at least, that’s how we see it).

History
Chip was surrendered to Pets In Need when his previous owner could no longer care for him.
