CLEAR THE SHELTERS
Help us Clear the Shelters this August! This August we are once again partnering with NBC Bay Area and Telemundo 48 to Clear the Shelters! This nationwide initiative is a month-long pet adoption and donation campaign that helps animals in need find loving homes.
Our goal this month: help find 100 animals new homes, and raise $10,000 to support more animals and families in our community. We hope you’ll join us to help Clear the Shelters!

Race to Clear the Shelters!
In honor of Clear the Shelters Month, pledge to race 7 miles (the distance between our two shelters), 14 miles, or 28 miles throughout the month of August. Run, cycle, walk your dog—any activity you choose to race supports the animals in our care at Pets In Need.
1. Pick your pet and register!

Choose your team and join the friendly competition—Team Top Dog, Team Hot Bun, or Team Cool Cat! Whichever team you join, every dollar raised supports the Pets In Need Fund to help all animals in our care.
2. Fundraise to win prizes!
When you register for $35, you’ll earn your race shirt and your personal fundraising page. Then, fundraise $150 for a chance to win cool prizes. Best of all, you'll get all the warm fuzzy feelings knowing you're saving furry animals in our care.
o Brew Day for 2 at Freewheel Brewing: Go behind the scenes and learn how to brew our Big Paws IPA benefiting Pets In Need!
o Yappy Hour: Two hour visit with cuddly pups
o Name a litter of puppies, kittens, or bunnies
o One person on each team will earn a Sports Basement gift card!
o Free training session with D For Dog Training
o Bottle of Copper Dog Whiskey
o $25 Hobee’s Gift Card
3. Submit your results and celebrate!
Our race may be virtual, but on Clear the Shelters Day (August 26) we'll celebrate your team with a Mini Race! One representative from Team Top Dog, Team Hot Bun, and Team Cool Cat will cycle from our Redwood City shelter to our Palo Alto shelter. They'll cross the Finish Line by 10 a.m. at Pets In Need in Palo Alto, just in time for our doors to open to meet all our winning adoptables!

Adult dogs: $25
Adult cats: $25
All rabbits: FREE! Plus, a rabbit adoption kit (hay, alfalfa, a water bottle, a litter box, and a crate)
Happy Hours
Every Thursday in August, we will be hosting happy hours from 4-7 p.m.!
What: Adoption fees will be discounted by 50% for ALL animals!
Dates: August 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31
Time: 4-7 p.m.
Location: Both shelters!
Bunny 101 Class!
We are BURSTING with adoptable bunnies at our Palo Alto shelter! Our wonderful volunteer and rabbit expert Peggy will be hosting a bunny 101 class to teach you everything about rabbits and help find these long-eared lovelies new homes.
When: Saturday, August 26
Time: Adoptions from 10-6 p.m., bunny 101 class at 11 a.m.
